Kay Macleod , University of Chicago, USA
Dr. Macleod obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, carried out post-doctoral research at the Pasteur Institute, France and at the MIT Center for Cancer Research, Cambridge, MA before setting up her own lab at the University of Chicago. Dr. Macleod is currently the Chair of the Committee on Cancer Biology at the University of Chicago, a Program Leader of the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center and serves on various national and international review panels and journal editorial boards in the field. The focus of research in the Macleod lab is on the role of autophagy in cancer with particular emphasis on how inactivation of mitophagy results in mitochondrial dysfunction, deregulated metabolism and oxidative stress that in turn influences tumor progression and disease.
